A broken city water line undermined a 100-year-old, 16 ft.tall retaining wall between two vacation homes. EagleLIFT was contracted to provide retaining wall soil stabilization for the homes to prevent settlement, prior to retaining wall being removed and a new wall rebuilt. Soil stabilization to prevent soil collapse after retaining wall removal.

Solutions and Results

Push piers were installed under the perimeter wall of the home, as well as the garage on the high side of the retaining wall. Piers driven to depths of -40’.

Two rows of polymer injection were installed along perimeter of retaining wall to stabilize soils and prevent caving during removal and replacement of wall. Injections were made on 3’ centers and at 3’ vertical depths down to -18’ below grade.

Project support was provided by Cooper Chase Construction as the General Contractor, Brooks Ransom Engineers provided structural engineering, and Technicon Engineers provided the Geotechnical Engineering.

Crews battled snow and rain but were able to complete project on schedule. Retaining wall was removed and replaced without issue.
