san-diego-concrete-lifting118’ linear feet of footing had settled approximately 1/4″ as indicated by the opening between the footing and the poured foundation wall above. Upon further investigation, it became known that the subgrade problem was deeper then originally anticipated. Boreholes showed low soil density values 7’ level. Traditional repairs methods would have been either removing and re-pouring of the foundation or helical piering. Neither of these methods was feasible due to the fact there both are extremely time consuming and the cost would be relatively high. EagleLIFT, Inc. was chosen for a number of reasons such as the 10 yr warranty against any shrinkage or deterioration, virtually no disruption, no added overburden to the already suspect base soils and a project cost that was a fraction of any alternative.

LOW COST FOUNDATION REPAIR METHODS IN SAN DIEGO

EagleLIFT, Inc. placed a series of 7 Deep Injections at the 3’ and 6’ depths beneath the footing spaced at 3’ O/C. We then injected our patented polymer resins, which expand to aggressively void fill and stabilize the weak base soils, in effect creating a series of piles. The expansion nature of the polymer resins create a lifting force of 15 tons/sq.ft., which made the lifting of the footing possible. The expansion of the resins lasts for 3-5 seconds and the material then starts to cure, reaching 90% of its compressive strength within 15 minutes. The photo to the left shows our injection technician injecting the resins through the 1/2″ copper to the required depth.

EagleLIFT, Inc. was able to stabilize the entire 18’ length of foundation in one day. The photo to the right illustrates a 3-layrered Deep Injection beneath a foundation to stabilize the structure and densify the soils. The result is a complete void fill and stabilization of the base soils ensuring a solid base for the foundation and loads placed upon it. All parties were very pleased with the work done, the short length of time it took to successfully complete the project and the cost savings that resulted from using the URETEK Method.
