The trailer is a preview of a project where we used a combination of push piers and polymer to lift a 45,000 sqft 15″. The project provided a multitude of challenges, such as a concrete slab that was not reinforced, foul weather, and building conditions that were not optimal.
Drainage Channel Repair included Lifting and Leveling of structure and joint sealing against water intrusion
In the southwestern United States, Drainage channels are an important infrastructure tool for ensuring heavy rain events do not cause flash floods and subsequent property damage. Maintaining these systems is essential to make sure that communities are protected and public works systems, such as roadways, are not interrupted due to washout or pooling water. Riverside City College, located in Riverside, CA, was experiencing problems with a portion of its drainage channel and contacted EagleLIFT to perform the drainage channel repair.
Riverside City College (RCC) had approximately 450 linear feet of its drainage channel that had become undermined by water that was traveling underneath the concrete panels. The water began to washout the base support soils of the channel, causing voids and settlement along the channel’s bottom and sidewalls. The College was seeking a cost-effective solution to extend the life of the drainage structure and to avoid the cost of rip and replace.
EagleLIFT recommended and was contracted to perform the URETEK Method to stabilize the panels, fill the voids, and seal the joints to restore the water flow over the channel. The URETEK Method is a process whereby an industrial grade, high-density polyurethane is injected through 5/8” holes directly into the weak soil zones to stabilize, compact and densify the area. Once injected, the polymer initially moves throughout the injection point in liquid form, aggressively seeking voids and the path of least resistance, and then it begins to expand throughout the soil media and densify the soil.
EagleLIFT utilized a 4ft injection pattern along the bottom of the drainage structure and half way up the sidewalls. The pattern design was intended to provide consistent void fill and to adjoin the material to provide effective undersealing of the concrete panels. Since the URETEK polymers are hydrophobic, the material would push out any sitting water and protect the panels against future water intrusion.
EagleLIFT worked as subcontractor under Three Peaks Construction, who was contracted to install an epoxy overlay over certain areas of the channel after the voids were filled. EagleLIFT coordinated all activities with Three Peaks Construction and RCC maintenance staff to ensure work did not interfere with College operations.
All voids under the areas of concern were filled with material usage coming in at 25% under budget. RCC was able to use the cost savings for additional repair projects that they did not anticipate having the funding to complete. The project was also completed without any interruption to RCC’s operations.
Phoenix, AZ – EagleLIFT, Inc.’s, a foundation repair and sewer repair company based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, URETEK Process was featured in a recent video by the Arizona Department of Transportation. The project was a roadway lifting project on the Loop 101 (Prima Freeway) widening project in Scottsdale, AZ.
The Loop 101 widening project is adding new outside lanes and roadway improvements between Shea Boulevard and Loop 202 in the Phoenix metropolitan area. EagleLIFT, with URETEK USA, utilized the patented URETEK Deep Injection® Process to help rehabilitate the existing roadway and lift any dips and fill voids where present.

It allows you to quickly lift and stabilize the road without excavation and with minimal impact to the community.”
The URETEK Deep Injection® Process is a technique whereby an industrial grade structural polyurethane is injected to densify and stabilize the support soils underneath the roadway. The polyurethane is injected in a multiple depth and horizontal gridded pattern to fill voids and densify the soil. This process is used to increase the base soil’s weight-bearing capacity, as well as achieving upward lift for leveling the roadway or any effected structure.
In a press release from ADOT, Steve Boschen, Director of ADOT’s Infrastructure Delivery and Operations Division, stated that “This is certainly less disruptive than digging up the freeway to do reconstruction work. It is a high-tech fix when it comes to long-term ground settlement beneath a freeway. Expansion foam isn’t the answer in all cases, but we’ve had some great success in offsetting the effects of ground settlement.”

Caltrans had a problem with one of its Ferry loading docks in Rio Vista, CA – it was being undermined by a family of beavers that had made a home underneath the boat ramp! As strong as the ramp was built, the concrete would not be able to withstand the significant weight stess on its own, it would need adequate support soils to help support it.
The beavers had caused voids ranging from 6″ to 1′ throughout the 44’x24′ slab, and the voids needed to be filled and the weight-bearing capacity of the soil restored or there would be potential for service interruption. Caltrans contacted EagleLIFT to see if the problem could be solved.
The California Slab Lift Solution
Once the void locations were determined by use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), EagleLIFT utilized the URETEK Method® to fill the voids and densify the remaining soil. The URETEK Method® is a unique application that allows for a high density structural polymer to be injected underneath a structure with only 1/2″ holes in the slab. Once injected, the polyurethane seeks out the voids in liquid form and then it begins to expand through the void and the adjacent soil, creating a subsurface weight-bearing monolith. URETEK’s 486STAR polymer was ideal for this application due to its hydro-insensitivity, quick set time and it being environmentally inert.
The loading ramp was stabilized in 3 shifts, minimizing the downtime of the dock and restoring service in one day. All of the voids were stabilized and the weight-bearing capacity of the concrete ramp was restored. All of this was done without harming one single Beaver!
